CC 140 - Communications - Tuesday, Dec. 15th

Good afternoon everyone!

It's our final interview today. Are you ready?

Please hand in a copy of you cover letter and resume. 

Here are the steps for today's final:
  • You will have an interview and the order will be random.
  • The interview will take about 10 minutes.
  • There will be a short evaluation at the end of your interview
  • When you complete your interview, you may go home. Just like a real interview (^_^)Y

You may pick up your resume and cover letter after next week in this room.

  • Today, we are reviewing persuasive communication and starting chapter 15 - Resumes. Please look over the slides for chapter 15 and read the chapter to understand what needs to be in a good resume. Feel free to email me if you have any questions.



HOMEWORK:

  • First Draft of a resume
    • Please write a first draft of your resume to class.
      • You may choose either a chronological or functional Resume
        •  Please pick a business you would like to apply to in the future.
    • Please bring a paper copy of it to next class.

    • Essay:
      • Using the lesson from Chapter 3, what is your personal culture?
        • Here are some questions you could answer:
          • What are your cultural dimensions?
          • How has your upbringing shaped you?
          • How has your personal culture helped or hindered you in Canada? 
          • Are you cultural self-aware?
      • Length: 1 page, double spaced (250 words)
    • Presentation:
      • Present your personal culture to the class. 
      • Length: 3-5 minutes

    • Enrichment Module: Interpersonal Communication

  • Write
      • Please watch the video and write at least 1 page double spaced (250 words)
      • What are at least three negative and positive listening skills and nonverbal cues in the interviews.
  •  Discuss
    • Ethical Questions #5 on page 63.
      • Please read and make an outline on your feelings out this scenario.
